Akinola on Lambeth, Canterbury, Islam and ritual sacrifice

The Archbishop and Primate of Nigeria, Dr Peter Akinola, has granted me an exclusive interview. I met him at his office in Abuja a few days ago. The piece will appear in T2 tomorrow, with added coverage online. Meanwhile, here is a little taster, on how God had other plans for him when he tried to evade his calling to the ministry as a young man.

I notice Ruth did not share any cooking recipes. Nor was there any chatting about the latest crochet match.

As a journalist, wasn't Ruth even "tempted" to ask about the -at the time of the interview, I'd belive- ongoing debacle over Akinola's failed bid to repeat as CAN's head?

How about exploring the connections between western convenors to deals with conservative bishops in the so-called "Global South" from several years ago, and the recent appointments of, PRECISELY, these same convenors as bishops with the mission to displace the Episcopal Church USA, simply because it refuses to sideline with the nutcase machinery the USA has turned into?

How about questioning Akinola's previous statements about the seeming nonexistence of LGBT people in Nigeria, and within the Anglican Church of Nigeria itself?

Hello? Journalism?

I fully agree Archbishop Akinola's condemnation of the pretence that homosexuality is as "natural" as the coupling of male and female.
But I do not need the Bible's confirmation of what, for me, is self-evident. If homosexuality were "normal", neither the Archbishop nor I would be here to discuss it!
