Ruth adds Tuesday: See also the latest in the David King story. This vicar, now divorced, who had an affair with a married mother-of-four, also now divorced, has lost his appeal against being sacked.

The female vicar linked to the marriage breakdown of her bishop has admitted that her own union is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, update Wednesday 12, the Bishop has now taken leave of absence as rumours continue, as we report.

Rev Mandy Williams-Potter, press officer for the Bishop of St David's, said yesterday that she had discussed "separation" from her husband of 13 years. The admission came just 24 hours after the mother of two told journalists she was married and "together" with her husband.

Mrs Williams-Potters' bishop, the Right Rev Carl Cooper, is facing calls for an investigation into whether he has given "just cause for scandal" after he announced his marriage had come to an end.

Twenty three clergy in St David's diocese have written to the Archbishop of Wales asking for an investigation into what is alleged to be "more than a working relationship" between the bishop and Mrs Potter-Williams. Some have called for a boycott of the bishop saying his position is untenable.
