First floods then foot-and-mouth
After the last foot-and-mouth outbreak the Archbishop of Canterbury launced the ARC Addington Fund as the Church's response to the crisis.
Named after Canon Richard General Addington, who set up a fund when Swine Fever hit Suffolk, it gave over £10 million to those affected.
But now it's stretched. After the deluge in June and July, the fund was dedicated to emergency flood hardship grants for farmers.
They can't be relishing the prospect of finding more so soon for farms that may be hit by another foot-and-mouth out-break, but they have promised to review whether it's necessary by Monday. Let's hope it won't be.
